These gentle giants are also known as various forms of sugarbush.

I still have one of these specimens dried at home. This piece was originally painted in Winsor and Newton Professional Watercolours, with a lot of use of pinks and reds from my palette as well as Burnt Sienna included in the stems. A lot of dry brush technique was used to replicate the realistic appearance of all the fluffy petals!

I have chosen a very special paper for this plant, the Hahnemühle German Etching Giclée - it is perfect as its highly textured surface and rich colour profiles show the painting of this tactile plant at its best.
