This is an ink drawing that I really wanted to instil some energy into the work. I found some fungi, quite near to where I live, on an old tree stump and I tried to replicate it in one sitting, attempting to capture the spirit of the subject in the woodland surroundings. This is also quite a loose style for me and deliberately so - as sometimes the subject demands it!

The beautiful Ilford Cotton Textured Paper is slightly creamy white in colour and great for enhancing the fungi drawing. This archival print would look wonderful with a simple black frame and also has room for a white or cream mount.

Perfect to accompany your kitchen wall, restaurant, café, business or adorn your home. Striking to the eye, black and white is versatile and ink is timeless. Botanical artists from the mid 1700s were depicting subjects with as much intricate detail as we see today. A photograph may capture a collection of fungi but it perhaps could not reveal its character. This is what I aim to do in my work - so that we put on a pedestal the glorious simple things we see every day.
