What to do with these after Christmas? Draw them, of course! Brazil nuts, walnuts and hazelnuts have the most beautiful textures, both inside and out.

I couldn't resist the smooth silky Brazil nuts, whose shells are pitted with the most amazing patterns; they look like mini mountains!

Walnuts of course have the most gnarly and complex shell exteriors and are often challenging to open without breaking the whole walnut inside.

Hazelnuts are so versatile - we see them in rows of praline chocolates or savoury dishes. The whole nut inside is quite robust and not as brittle or soft as the other two.

Giclée Ilford Cotton Textured - from an original Ink on St. Cuthbert's Mill Ultra Smooth Botanical Watercolour Paper. The paper I have selected for this piece is perfect to bring out all the textural elements of these nuts and also the intensity of the black ink.

I use a carbon neutral delivery company in the UK for these prints, which are all of the highest archival quality.
