Max Mayfield, my favourite Stranger Things character, is depicted here in an iconic episode as she reads her letter to Billy. I just love the use of symbolism and we have had plenty of it in Season 4 including the harbinger of death - the Grandfather Clock.
This is a departure from my usual botanical art but I have included a little with the beautiful rose in bloom on the stained glass window.
This piece was inspired by The High Priestess from the Major Arcana Tarot cards. Max is wearing the exact same colours of The High Priestess and she just seemed to fit this card really closely in its meaning and purpose. The figure represents trusting your intuition and your inner voice. On the original Tarot card, there are many symbols and colours which I have tried to emulate, including the number of the card in the window. The two pillars are represented here with the clock on the dark side and the light side which shows a glimpse of sky, and music - the saviour for Max.
The hand-written letter Max read out to Billy in the graveyard is the equivalent of the scroll. The 'crown' is represented by the headphones. I remember when 'Running Up That Hill' came out, it was one of my absolute favourites because it was like nothing I had heard before and I never tire of hearing it, like Max, I suppose!
I chose Hahnemühle Cotton Rag Giclée, as this is a really smooth and strong paper that picks up lots of intricate details.
