Originally derived from a Botanical Watercolour, the colours are heightened on the Tote Bag and the inscription is Globe Artichoke.

Cynara cardunculus var. scolymus or Globe Artichoke, is a fascinating species and here I have included all the subtle colour changes on the flower buds in watercolour (Winsor and Newton Professional) For the composition of this painting, these three Globe Artichokes are supposed to be floating in their own space.

Do you know that we eat the flower buds of the artichoke before they bloom? If you have ever let them fully grow, their fluffy purple flowers are really a sight to behold!
